On August 9, 2025, Jen Pawol made history as the first woman to umpire a regular-season Major League Baseball (MLB) game. She worked first base during a Marlins vs. Braves matchup and the very next day became the home plate umpire, a role with one of the toughest and most important jobs in baseball: calling balls and strikes.

Pawol’s path wasn’t easy. She was an athlete in high school and college, played for the USA Women’s National Baseball Team, and even worked as an art teacher before fully committing to umpiring. After years of training and climbing through the minor leagues, she finally reached MLB. Her milestone follows other women breaking into sports officiating, like Violet Palmer in the NBA, Sarah Thomas in the NFL, and Stéphanie Frappart in soccer.

Your Task:
Imagine you are designing a campaign to highlight trailblazers like Jen Pawol, who are breaking barriers in sports.
1. Choose a Format: Create a poster, short video script, or social media post.
2. Highlight the Impact: What makes Jen Pawol’s achievement important? How does it inspire others?
3. Add a Catchphrase: Come up with a short, powerful line (like “Breaking Barriers, One Call at a Time”).
4. Connect It Back: Show how her story ties into the larger theme of perseverance and inclusion.
5. Share your slogan and describe your campaign (poster, video, or social media post)
6. Bonus: Sketch or mock up your design if you want!
