Did you know that 80% of personal resolutions fail by February? This isn't usually a failure of willpower; it’s a failure of design, where we set impossible goals without understanding the hidden social pressures and environmental triggers that control our habits. Understanding how your environment and social context shape behavior is crucial to success in every field, from healthcare to technology.

Instead of massive yearly goals, experts recommend designing tiny, socially-aware systems that make the right choice the easiest choice. Whether you’re trying to study more or practice a new skill, the secret is treating your life like a prototype that you are constantly adjusting based on real-world feedback and how you interact with your surroundings.

Your Task:

Write a New Year's Resolution that creates a daily habit using one of the proven design strategies below.

Design strategy options:
Option 1: Peer Accountability: Invite a friend to join you, like having study sessions together.
Option 2: Adding Friction: Introduce a physical obstacle that makes the undesirable habit difficult, like placing your phone in a locked box or on a high shelf.
Option 3: Environmental Cue: Change your immediate surroundings to automatically trigger the desirable habit, like putting your guitar on your bed so it forces you to practice.

In your submission write out your resolution including what outcome you hope to achieve and 1 of the design strategies above explaining how this will help you not only continue your resolution beyond February but help you achieve it!
