Around the world, hundreds of Indigenous languages are at risk of disappearing, along with the cultures, stories, and wisdom they carry. In the U.S. alone, experts predict that only 20 out of 170 Native languages may still be spoken by 2050. But one young innovator, Danielle Boyer, is using technology to change that.
At just 24, Boyer created SkoBot, a small, animal-shaped robot that helps children learn endangered languages. Built from recycled materials, each SkoBot uses AI and voice recordings from elders and teachers to talk in real time, wave, nod, and even wear fun accessories. Students get hands-on experience building their robot and practicing words in their heritage language. Through her nonprofit, The STEAM Connection, Boyer donates these $250 robots to Indigenous schools for free, ensuring that learning, culture, and tech can grow together.

What problem does it solve?
Who would use it, and how would it help them connect with their heritage or community?
How does AI make your invention more effective or unique?
