4-4 - Lets Connect - Sunscreen

Melanoma, a serious type of skin cancer, is surprisingly common among people under 30, including teens. One effective way to fight against skin cancer is by regularly using sunscreen, especially outdoors. Unfortunately, many middle schoolers aren't getting the message about the importance of sunscreen. Imagine you work for a company that's just made a new sunscreen for young people. It's your job to develop a cool marketing campaign to convince 11 to 14-year-olds to use this sunscreen.

Your Task:

  1. Create a Slogan: Think of a catchy slogan that will grab the attention of young teens and make them think about sunscreen as a cool and essential part of their daily routine. Your slogan should be short and memorable and deliver a strong message about the benefits of using sunscreen.

  2. Choose Your Platforms: Decide which social media platforms or other media types are best for 11- to 14-year-olds. Where do they spend most of their time online? You might consider platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or Snapchat, which are popular among this age group.

  3. Develop Your Campaign: Outline your ideas for a marketing campaign using your slogan and chosen platforms. Think about what kinds of posts, videos, or maybe even online challenges you could use to make sunscreen popular among young teens. Then list and describe 4-5 types of posts you would want to use in your campaign.
