At the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, scientists did something that had never been done before: they raised a warty frogfish from an egg all the way to a young fish.
Out of thousands of eggs, only one survived. They named it Domino.
Raising these fish is incredibly difficult because their early life stages (larvae) are fragile and usually grow in the open ocean, not in tanks. The team had to carefully control temperature, light, water flow, and food to give them even a small chance to survive.
This breakthrough could help scientists protect marine life as oceans change due to climate challenges.
Your Task: Save a Species
Imagine youโre part of a team trying to help endangered or hard-to-raise animals survive.
Design a solution that helps scientists raise or protect a species in a controlled environment (like an aquarium, lab, or sanctuary).
Your idea could be:
๐ A smarter tank or habitat system
๐ค A tool that monitors animal health or behavior
๐ฝ๏ธ A new way to feed or care for delicate young animals
๐ A system that predicts survival and improves conditions
๐ก Or something totally original
