Imagine hopping into a small aircraft that’s quiet, electric, and designed to take you just about anywhere you need to go without the hassle of traffic. Air taxis are the latest tech buzz, thanks to companies like Joby Aviation creating electric, flying vehicles that are quieter than helicopters and are aimed at being a faster, more affordable way to get around.

While these air taxis aren’t available to the public yet, experts believe they could be flying us above traffic sooner than we think! These air taxis are built to carry a few passengers, offering the speed of an airplane without needing a runway. Some people think they’ll make travel more exciting and efficient, while others worry about safety, noise, and environmental impact.

One more thing to consider: are air taxis an elite option for wealthier people only? Since these services will likely be expensive when they first launch, there’s concern that they might mostly serve those who can afford private or luxury travel. Should this new technology be widely accessible, or is it okay for it to cater mainly to wealthier customers?

So, what do you think? Should air taxis become a regular part of transportation, or are they a risky and potentially exclusive idea? This is your chance to voice your opinion!

Your Task:

Team Up: Work with a partner to dive into the discussion of air taxis. Together, brainstorm the advantages and disadvantages of using air taxis.

Discuss & Debate: Spend time debating your views. Each partner should present their own side of the argument on whether air taxis are a good idea. Feel free to be as creative and detailed as you like!

Write Up Your Findings: After your discussion, work together to summarize your pros and cons and make a final decision. Do you both believe air taxis are a great step forward, or do you think they bring too many risks? Write down a summary of the main points on each side and then explain your team’s final choice on whether air taxis should be widely used, remain restricted, or maybe not used at all.
