The New York Governor signed a law that could change how teens use social media. The bill would let parents block algorithm-suggested posts for users under 18. That means teens would only see posts from accounts they follow, not content chosen by an app’s algorithm.
The law would also stop platforms from sending notifications to minors between midnight and 6 a.m., unless parents give permission. Supporters say this protects teen mental health. Critics argue it limits free speech and creates privacy concerns. Even the U.S. Surgeon General has suggested warning labels on social media platforms due to mental health risks.
At the center of this debate is one big question: Who should control what teens see online: companies, parents, or teens themselves?

Your Task:

Take a Position: Do you think this type of law is a good idea? Why or why not?

Design a Better Feed: If you could redesign social media for teens, what rules or features would you add to:
Protect mental health? Reduce addiction? Keep it fun and creative?

Explain your idea in 6-8 sentences
